Isabelle is an honourary lifetime member with OPSEU and her retirement from the lakehead psychiatric hospital, local 720, has certainly not slowed her down.Social learning and social cognitive theory isabelle is recognized for her service to canada veteran and served in the royal canadian navy, canadian women’s army corp reserve; in 2008 she was instrumental in effecting a reunion of WWII aboriginal servicewomen from across canada held in thunder bay, and is a recipient of the minister of national defense commendation in 2009.Social learning and social cognitive theory she is a respected elder drum and pipe carrier to the aboriginal community and enjoys sharing teachings to school children. A few years ago, isabelle was the recipient of OPSEU’s bread and roses award presented by the provincial women’s committee being forefront with human rights, the aboriginal caucus and recognition for all her community work within region 7.Social learning and social cognitive theory back in the day when we (local 720) were with the ‘public services’, isabelle did not fear a picket line. From singing with the flying pickets to carrying picket signs on as many picket lines as she can, her voice is still clear as ever with her energetic chanting as cars went by “A little bit of honk, a little bit of go go!” isabelle was instrumental in strengthening our local with collective bargaining, elected as treasurer, secretary and held office as president until her retirement.Social learning and social cognitive theory isabelle retired before local 720 divested to the broader public service, but it was because of her that so many came on board to believe in our union and know how strong OPSEU can be to fight for the good all ontario workers.Social learning and social cognitive theory Isabelle’s accomplishments did not come without trials, sacrifices, learning experiences and standing her grounds for human rights, dignity, and respect for all.Social learning and social cognitive theory we, as a local, have had some rough tumbles since her leaving, but isabelle is still very active and willing to help any way she can.
