The purdue applied cognition lab is looking for volunteers for a psychology study on practice and learning. Men and women ages 18-30 who have normal or corrected-to-normal vision and are native english speakers may be eligible to participate.Cognitive domain of learning participants will be asked to complete various computerized memory and attention tasks, responding to information presented visually onscreen and using the computer keyboard or mouse to make responses.Cognitive domain of learning

The study involves 17 visits to the lab over the course of four weeks. Children will be asked to attend up to three sessions, each lasting one to one and half hours. During these sessions, researchers will test the child’s hearing, speech and language skills. The child also will be asked to listen to some words or sounds, and look at pictures on a monitor while researchers record their brain waves (EEG) with an elastic cap. Children will receive $10 per hour and will get to pick a prize after each session, and parents will receive $10 per session to reimburse for expenses.Cognitive domain of learning parents also will receive a written report based on their child’s speech and language testing.

Participants in this study must (1) be currently licensed foster parents in the state of indiana, (2) reside in greater lafayette, (3) be the current non-relative foster caregiver for a foster child ages 3-9 who regularly has contact with a biological parent, and who will remain in the current foster placement for at least three weeks after the start of data collection.Cognitive domain of learning

Participants will complete two sessions. Participants will be asked to swallow small amounts of barium (used as a contrast) and glide their voice on vowels like this /ee/.
