The term gold star family is a modern reference that comes from the service flag. These flags/banners were first flown by families during world war I.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom the flag included a blue star for every immediate family member serving in the armed forces of the united states, during any period of war or hostilities in which the armed forces of the united states were engaged.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom if that loved one died, the blue star was replaced by a gold star. This allowed members of the community to know the price that the family had paid in the cause of freedom.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom Today, the nation recognizes the sacrifice that all gold star family members make when a father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, or other loved one dies in service to the nation.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom gold star mother’s and family’s day is the last sunday of september and gold star spouses day is april 5. The strength of our nation is our army.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom the strength of our army is our soldiers. The strength of our soldiers is our families. The army recognizes that no one has given more for the nation than the families of the fallen.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom Our hope with this scholarship is that every year the seniors will have an opportunity to discover the meaning of many of our nation’s greatest symbols and truly reflect upon who makes our freedom possible.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom we believe for years to come, generations of lynx and lynxettes will be able to reflect upon the essence of who cameron was as a lynx, an army ranger, and a husband, son, brother, and friend.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom America has a deep, rich history that I have always enjoyed learning about and respected from a young age. I am the daughter of a U.S. Marine, so understanding my country’s history and why freedom is important has been a subject in our home since I was little.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom so researching and writing this paper is an honor and a privilege. Our country has many important symbols that most americans recognize as symbols of our history.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom I can think of several off the top of my head like, the eagle, the white house, the capitol, washington memorial, and so many more, but for this essay I will focus on the national anthem, the pledge of allegiance, and the american flag.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom The national anthem was written in 1814 and was first written as a poem. It was set to music over 100 years later and turned into song that is what we now know as our national anthem called, “the star spangled banner.” the writer of the poem, francis scott key, wrote the poem after being inspired by the sight of a lone flag flying over fort mchenry at daybreak.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom if you close your eyes and sing the words we all know so well, you can see that flag and hear the love of country in every word. The american flag is a symbol known to all, not just citizens of the united states, but most people on our planet recognize our flag because of the freedom it stands for.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom the U.S. Flag doesn’t just look the way it does just to look good, each color was chosen for a reason. The white in the flag signifies purity and innocence.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom the red in the flag signifies hardiness and valor. The blue, which is the broadest stripe and a stripe above others, signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom wow! We live in an amazing country! We live in a country that puts those qualities as priorities. The american flag is something that I see and helps me remember the freedom’s that my dad, sgt.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom meddock and many other soldiers have fought for. The american flag also makes me, and most americans think of the pledge of allegiance. The flag and what it stands for deserves respect.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom the flag should without a doubt be flown higher than others, the flag should be flown freely, and the pledge should be stood for. We stand in church when we praise.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom we stand to clap for a performance we think was outstanding. Standing for the pledge of allegiance shows respect and praise deserved. Standing for the pledge, placing your hand over your heart for the pledge, and facing the flag for the pledge are important as an american citizen.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom The truth for me is that true freedom is only found in jesus, but freedom from war and living in a world filled with war on the streets comes directly from the men and women that put their lives on the line each day in scary places like afghanistan.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom when I watch the news or movies that portray the current war or wars from the past, I’m so thankful for those soldiers. I’m thankful for soldiers like my dad who came home and shared his love of country with me, but I’m also extremely thankful for soldiers like sgt.Cognitive learning theory in the classroom meddock whose bravery even in his death remind us what true physical freedom is.
